Open Questions is the latest creative online-writing project that I am undertaking. I have written at a variety of other sites over the last decade and a half. A couple months ago, I decided to reset, and think again about what my purpose is in sharing my thoughts online. An open question, as it turns out! The need to communicate, share, and engage others is an inherent part of the human condition. Making these connections online has many opportunities, since it is not bound to geography or set social groups. However, this way of reaching out is also limited by its lack of in-person engagement. It's important to acknowledge both the opportunities and limitations of this platform. That said, I hope to create and protect this space of sharing, learning, and growing for anyone who wants to participate.
A little about me: my background is in nonprofit leadership, arts & culture, and religious studies. I have a Master of Arts in Theology and Leadership from Gonzaga University. I am also a chaplain-in-training. My spiritual heritage is Roman Catholic, and I also embrace ecumenical collaboration and non-Christian belief systems. As Zora Neale Hurston wrote in "Their Eyes Were Watching God," there are two things everyone must do for themselves: they must learn about living for themselves, and they must go to God for themselves. Each of us must find our way, and yet we can support each other every step of the way.
I am open to paradox, contradiction, and growing. If you are too, please enjoy this blog!
